This is just a cell phone pic of a recent portrait with a blue eyed polish model. As you can see in the (model's) right eye, the blue eyes absolutely glow in the tintype. I haven't scanned or varnished this plate yet, but even with about half of the strobe power I would have liked for this portrait it looks incredible. My more portable darkroom is working well and over the holidays I'm going to build the plan I've designed for an 8x10 (and 4x5) wet plate camera with film holders so I can take the camera body out of the darkroom and into the world. This should let me do some indoor 8x10 tintypes this winter, if I can get a hold of a 4800W power pack I know about. If that make no sense but you're still reading, thanks! Stop by sometime and I'll tell you about tintypes, or tell me to not do that and I'll just make you a nice tintype photo. I'll also be shooting a series of 4-6 8x10 portraits this week, and if that works out I'll post scans on the blog.

A small change to the schedule, now I'll also be shooting on 9/12, Friday, and only in the late afternoon on Saturday. Here are a few sample of some tintype I've done in the past, the originals of these are all printed on sheets of black aluminum and are one of a kind. I'll be shooting 4x5 and 8x10 tintype portraits this Sunday 9/7/14 and next weekend.
I had a chance to go down and shoot over the weekend at Sutcliffe Vineyards in Southwest Colorado, this is a picture of the sunset from the road on US-285 headed back from Denver. And below is the same rainy sunset facing the other direction.
