The Big Buddha over Phuket, Thailand

 This is the view to one side of Phuket island from the Big Buddha.

Monks teach and chant in a large room underneath the Buddha.

It seems the Buddha is perpetually under construction, and has been for years.

For an idea of scale, the columns underneath the are too large to wrap your arms around, and you can see the scaffolding from the picture above behind the Buddha in the picture above to the right.
